Kuopio Grande

Kuopio Grande 25–31 August 2025

An Outrageously Grand Village Festival

A new kind of event is taking over Kuopio this August – say hello to Kuopio Grande, the Outrageously Grand Village Festival, happening 25–31 August 2025. The first wave of the event program has been released, with more exciting updates dropping throughout July and August.

This week-long celebration brings together dozens of both fresh and familiar events across Kuopio under one umbrella. It’s the first time an event of this scale is being curated through such extensive local collaboration – and it shows.

Jointly created by around 25 local businesses and the Kuopio City Centre Development Association, Kuopio Grande is a new kind of shared effort launched to mark the city’s 250th anniversary. At the heart of it all is the spirit of community, creativity, and joyful togetherness. These events are shared moments, memories in the making, and a much-needed pause from the busyness of urban life.

Time to slow down and soak it all in

In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we all need space to breathe. Kuopio Grande offers that – a week to enjoy life with open senses and a slower pace. It’s an environment built for curiosity and delight, full of surprises waiting around every corner. This is a celebration for the people of Kuopio. A moment to be carefree, to connect, and to share joy. And what better place for that than the heart of Savo, the capital of happiness and easy living?

The best bites of Savo – all in one week

Expect a delicious mix of music, food, culture, movement, and good company – all as part of Kuopio’s 250th anniversary. Kuopio Grande unfolds in the city centre, the harbour, Puijo, and Rauhalahti, offering a full week of live music, culinary treats, active experiences, and artistic encounters. Let the famously warm savonian hospitality wrap you in its embrace and spark your zest for life. This is Kuopio Grande – a festival that doesn’t know the meaning of “too much.” Because around here, too much of a good thing is just right.

Evenings at Kuopio Grande wind down as wonderfully as the days begin. Whether you're a city explorer, a nature lover, or a spa enthusiast, you’ll find the perfect place to rest your head. Sleep in style downtown, in a charming manor setting, or in a lakeside caravan with your crew. And don’t be surprised if you wake up a little later than usual – and a whole lot happier.

Stay tuned, there is more to come

New programmes from performers to schedules, locations, and insider tips will be dropping on the event site throughout the summer. Be sure to check back often so you don’t miss a thing. Who knows, maybe next time you visit, you’ll be one step closer to your perfect week of summer.

One last thing – we speak a little savonian!

Google and your browser are great at understanding Finnish, but our beloved Savonian dialect might lead to a few funny translations. So if something looks a little quirky — don’t worry, it’s just part of the local charm.  Read on, smile often, and enjoy the ride — even Google has to work a bit to keep up with us!

Kuopio Grande is being developed as part of the co-production model for tourism-significant events -project (ESF+ 1 April 2024 – 31 August 2026). The project aims to enhance the region’s event production expertise through various trainings and coaching programs, support the development of local collaboration, and strengthen the capacity of businesses to produce events. The project is also focused on building a partner network and creating a new regional co-production model for organizing events with significant tourism value. The core target group of the project consists of tourism and event industry operators and stakeholders in Kuopio. Other businesses, organizations, and educational institutions may also be involved in project activities and pilot initiatives. Regional teams will be formed from the project partners who join the initiative. More info in Finnish.
